China business credit reports

Research a company in mainland China using its registered identity, rather than relying only on an English trading name. Compare current report options for reviewing a Chinese customer, manufacturer, or supplier from the United States.

Information to prepare for your China company check

  • Registered Chinese company name, plus the English name used in correspondence
  • Unified Social Credit Code, when available
  • Registered address and a copy of the business license, if the company provides one

Include the identifiers you have. If the legal entity is uncertain, ask our team before ordering. Do not substitute your US billing details for the subject company’s details.

Use the registered identity in China

Shanghai’s official market-access guidance describes the National Enterprise Credit Information Publicity System as a source of registration information, including company name, Unified Social Credit Code, registered address, establishment date, and business scope. These identifiers provide a starting point for matching the company to its registration.

Identify the business behind the English name

When a supplier gives you an English name, ask for its registered Chinese name and identifying code as well. Provide both versions in your request. A website, marketplace storefront, or brand is useful context, but the report needs an identifiable business as its subject.

Mainland entities and Hong Kong counterparties

Check which legal entity is named on the agreement. If the contract is with a Hong Kong company while production takes place in mainland China, tell the team about both entities and confirm the country or territory to select. Do not assume one company’s report also covers a related trading company or factory.

What can the report include?

Depending on the company and available sources, a report may cover registration, ownership, financial statements, payment information, public records, and a credit assessment. Information is not equally available in every market. Check the company identity, source dates, and qualifications in the delivered report.

Can I use only the supplier’s English website name?

Include the website, but provide the registered Chinese name, address, and Unified Social Credit Code where possible. If those details are unavailable, ask the team to review what you have before ordering.
