Information to prepare for your Nigeria company check

• Registered entity name and legal form
• RC or other CAC registration number, as labeled
• Registered office and operating address

Include the identifiers you have. If the legal entity is uncertain, ask our team before ordering. Do not substitute your billing details for the subject company’s details.

CAC public search and status reports

Nigeria’s Corporate Affairs Commission provides a Public Search for existing companies and business entities, with searches using an entity name or RC number. Its registration portal separately lists electronic status reports and certificates. A basic search and a detailed status document need not supply the same information.

A status match is only part of a credit check

Finding a CAC record helps establish the registered subject. It does not by itself establish current trading activity, financial strength, or a complete ownership chain. Ask about obtainable accounts, directors, and ownership information for the particular entity, then assess any missing financial periods as gaps in the evidence.

Checking a Nigerian distributor’s legal form

A supplier may receive a request from a trading name rather than a limited company. Retain the registration prefix and legal form from the counterparty’s documents. Identify who will sign the distribution agreement and owe your invoice before deciding which business the report should investigate.

What can the report include?

Depending on the company and available sources, a report may cover registration, ownership, financial statements, payment information, public records, and a credit assessment. Information is not equally available in every market. Check the company identity, source dates, and qualifications in the delivered report.

Is a CAC registration certificate proof that a Nigerian buyer will pay?

No. A certificate addresses registration. A credit report can add available business and financial information for your review, but your team still needs to assess the transaction and any information gaps.
