Information to prepare for your Colombia company check

• Registered Spanish name and legal form
• NIT and commercial matrícula number, if known
• Registered address and relevant Chamber of Commerce

RUES and the Chambers of Commerce

Colombia’s RUES guidance describes commercial-register searches by identification number, name, or matrícula. It also links registration certificate requests to the relevant Chamber of Commerce. Keep the chamber and company references with the request when older paperwork or similar trading names create uncertainty.

Registration and financial research

A commercial registration or certificate is not a substitute for company financial information. Specify any required financial period, directors, or ownership relationship before ordering. In a delivered report, distinguish the company’s registered particulars from available accounts, payment references, and assessments, and check the dates associated with each.

Distinguish the exporter from the producer

A importer may buy from a Colombian export company while a different producer supplies the goods. A exporter may invoice a Colombian distributor rather than its retail customer. Identify the legal entity on your own agreement and label other businesses by their role so the company check follows your transaction.

What can the report include?

Depending on the company and available sources, a report may cover registration, ownership, financial statements, payment information, public records, and a credit assessment. Information is not equally available in every market. Check the company identity, source dates, and qualifications in the delivered report.

Can I request a Colombian report with only a matrícula number?

Provide it along with the registered name, address, chamber, and NIT if available. More than one labeled identifier helps reconcile the record with the company on your commercial documents.
