Canada business credit reports

Research a Canadian customer, distributor, or supplier before your next cross-border transaction. Start with the legal entity and its registration jurisdiction, then review the business information available in a company credit report.

Information to prepare for your Canada company check

  • Full legal name, including any French or English alternate name
  • Registered address and province or territory
  • Corporation number or business number, if available

Include the identifiers you have. If the legal entity is uncertain, ask our team before ordering. Do not substitute your US billing details for the subject company’s details.

Federal and provincial company searches

Corporations Canada’s federal search does not cover every Canadian company. Its guidance directs users to Canada’s Business Registries for businesses incorporated under provincial or territorial legislation. A name missing from the federal database can therefore need a search in a different registry.

Match the Canadian entity on your paperwork

For a US business selling into Canada, identify the company named on the purchase order or distribution agreement. Give us the province and registered address alongside the name. If you are dealing with a Canadian subsidiary of a US parent, specify which entity you want researched; information about the parent does not automatically describe the subsidiary.

Review a Canadian report example

A Canadian sample PDF is available on our sample-report page. Use it to inspect the layout before ordering, then compare the actual report’s company identifiers and information dates. The sample illustrates a format; the documents obtainable for your subject company may differ.

What can the report include?

Depending on the company and available sources, a report may cover registration, ownership, financial statements, payment information, public records, and a credit assessment. Information is not equally available in every market. Check the company identity, source dates, and qualifications in the delivered report.

Can I order a report if I only know the province and company name?

Provide the full name and the address you have, including the province. A registration number helps distinguish similar names, but you can contact our team to discuss the available identifiers before ordering.
