South Africa business credit reports

Review a South African customer, distributor, or supplier with the registered business clearly identified. Include its enterprise number and legal form when requesting a company credit report.

Information to prepare for your South Africa company check

  • Registered name, including the company or close-corporation suffix
  • CIPC enterprise registration number
  • Registered office and trading address

Include the identifiers you have. If the legal entity is uncertain, ask our team before ordering. Do not substitute your billing details for the subject company’s details.

CIPC disclosure certificates

South Africa’s Companies and Intellectual Property Commission issues disclosure certificates for company and close-corporation information. CIPC describes full disclosure as covering governance structure and entity history, with online verification of its electronic certificates. A current registry document can help reconcile a changed name or corporate structure with your paperwork.

Governance records and financial evidence

A disclosure certificate concerns registered corporate information. Do not read it as audited accounts, a current payment record, or a guarantee that all ownership information is available. Specify the financial statements and management or ownership questions needed for your report, then check the periods and source limitations of the information delivered.

Research a regional distribution company

A manufacturer may supply a South African distributor serving customers in several other African markets. Identify the legal entity responsible for your invoice, even if goods are shipped onward. If another group company buys from you directly, it can require a separate report in its own registration country.

What can the report include?

Depending on the company and available sources, a report may cover registration, ownership, financial statements, payment information, public records, and a credit assessment. Information is not equally available in every market. Check the company identity, source dates, and qualifications in the delivered report.

Does one South African report cover the distributor’s regional group?

The report concerns the identified company. Explain any subsidiaries or other contractual buyers whose information you need; shared branding and regional operations do not automatically make them one subject.
